DR NewsPermalinkPro Media Tools 1.6.1 - new Auto Transfer metadata types and support for DJI drones
Last week we released Pro Media Tools 1.6.1, a minor update to our suite of media management tools for video professionals.
New List metadata type in Auto Transfer
Our camera offloading tool Auto Transfer now has a new metadata type - List. This allows you to specify a series of items, separated by commas, and force the user to choose one of these without being able to enter custom values. I use this in my workflows to send video and audio to different folders.

Additionally in Auto Transfer, you can now choose in preferences whether to include the camera ID in auto-detected reels (e.g. A011) or just have it be a numeric value (e.g. 011).
We've also added support for detecting volumes from DJI drones.
Force UTC timezone in QT Edit
By default our QuickTime metadata editing tool QT Edit uses times in your local timezone. This is appropriate for most workflows, especially when adding timecode tracks from the creation time of the file, but some users have requested support for UTC timezone instead, irrespective of the local timezone. You can now force UTC in preferences.

Kollaborate Server 2.6 - batch downloading, auto-advance, custom approval button labels and more
Last week we released Kollaborate Server 2.6, a major update to our self-hosted cloud workflow platform for video professionals.
This update contains some important new features but many of the best changes are the smaller ones. We really smoothed and polished a lot of things in this release and many tasks are faster and easier to accomplish than before.
Batch downloading
Select a group of files, then hit the download button next to one of them to download all of them at the same time. This works on the latest versions of Chrome, Firefox and Safari.

Auto-advance
Click the circle arrow to the left or right of the player to automatically advance to the next file in the folder after the current one finishes.

Download proxies
If the file has a lower-quality playable proxy, you will now be given the option of which file to download when clicking the download button in the player.

Custom approve/reject button labels
You can now give the Approve / Reject buttons in your workflows custom titles, allowing you to make it clearer what pressing a particular button will actually do.

Project thumbnails
Projects now show the icon of the most recent file that everyone can access. This only applies to files outside of departments.

Keep your place
If you click a file to view it and then press the Back button to go back to the Files page, Kollaborate now goes back to exactly where you were instead of going back to the top of the Files page. This is really useful if you were 20 pages deep.

Quick Look overhaul
We overhauled Quick Look to be more polished and responsive and increased the screen space it takes up so you can see your files better.

Improved image support
Large images are now displayed more prominently in the player and the image full-screen view has been redesigned and polished.
Additionally, we've improved support for animated GIFs, which now have frame rate, duration and hoverscrub thumbnails.
Security improvements
We've made a variety of security improvements. These will largely not be noticeable but one noticeable change is that you will need to re-login the first time after this update. After that the site will automatically log you in in future as normal.
Various uploading improvements
- Videos and images now show thumbnail previews during upload if the file is a format your browser can read
- Uploads now stay where you dragged them instead of scrolling you to the bottom of the page
- Estimated time remaining is now shown during uploads
- Lots of performance optimizations
Other changes
- New filter - show only Favorites on the Files page
- You can now favorite a file directly from the player
- The next / previous buttons in the player now show a preview of the upcoming file
- You can now separate version stacks by right-clicking them
- Folders are now ordered before files in the list
- Many UI tweaks
- Many performance optimizations and bug fixes
Kollaborate is an essential cloud workflow platform that allows you to share files with clients and team members while integrating with Digital Rebellion apps and services. Kollaborate Server allows you to host the platform in-house on your own servers and storage.
