Last week we released Pro Maintenance Tools 2.3, a major update to our suite of tools for maintaining, optimizing and troubleshooting your editing system.
Pro Maintenance Tools is now compatible with macOS 10.15 Catalina. Because Catalina removes 32-bit app support, this required us to transition away from QuickTime and use the more modern AV Foundation framework instead. This comes with numerous benefits, but also the downside that codec support is more limited. As a result, some features were removed or restricted with this release:
Pro Maintenance Tools has full support for Dark Mode on macOS 10.14 and higher, respecting whichever look you've set under Appearance in System Preferences.
Plugin Manager now supports notarization, which is a requirement for all apps in order to run on Catalina. Plugin Manager takes care of almost all of the process for you, but it requires you to setup an App-Specific Password for your Apple developer account first. We've written up a tutorial detailing exactly how to notarize here.
Also note that disk images should be notarized too, so Plugin Manager also includes a feature to notarize them under the Tools menu.
We recommend plugin creators utilizing our installers to recreate them with the latest version to make sure users can continue to use them on modern versions of macOS.

We recently released Pro Maintenance Tools 2.2.6 with some great new features.
Project Repair can now downgrade Adobe Premiere projects so they can be opened in earlier versions of Premiere. After downgrading the project, Premiere will report that it was saved in an earlier version and asks you to save a copy. After doing this, the project will now be openable by Premiere.
If you use Premiere features not supported in earlier versions they will of course not work in the earlier version, so be aware of this as Adobe has recently made major changes to features like the titler.
Plugin Manager can create installers for plugins. This is not just useful for plugin developers to distribute their plugins but can also be an easy way of backing up your plugins or moving them to another computer.
You can now run scripts both before and after installing the files in order to perform additional tasks like running a licensing step, copying or moving files or launching a web page. You can run Applescripts, Bash scripts or Swift scripts (note that some Swift scripts may not work on earlier versions of macOS). The scripts must return 0 otherwise Plugin Manager will abort the installation, which is useful in situations where you want to stop installation if a license or security check fails.

Pro Maintenance Tools is now fully compatible with Adobe Creative Cloud 2015 and we have made Preference Manager more intelligent at detecting future versions of CC.
Have you noticed that you suddenly have very little free disk space available? The culprit is probably After Effects' disk cache, which is set by default to consume up to 10% of your drive space. While that might not sound like much, 10% of a 1 TB drive is 100 GB, which is a lot of space for a temporary file cache that is only useful while AE is open.
Now you can easily clear out this cache with Housekeeper, or even schedule a basic housekeeping clean periodically.
Â
Housekeeper can also trash Adobe Audition plugin caches, which can help to solve launching issues.

We've just released Pro Maintenance Tools 2.1.1, a free update to our suite for maintaining, optimizing and troubleshooting your editing system.
Several customers have sent us events that can no longer be opened in FCPX due to corrupt stabilization data. Project Repair can now remove all stabilization information to fix such events.
We're planning to expand on this in future updates to strip out other commonly-corrupted parts including third-party effects.
Sometimes FCPX will generate corrupt XML that cannot be reimported. XML Repair can now fix the common "Element audio does not carry attribute ref" error.
