Kollaborate 1.0.5 is now live on the cloud version of the site, offering many new features and improvements to our cloud workflow platform.
Sharing files with people outside a project has now been streamlined. All users wishing to create a link must now have admin permissions (you can set this from the Team page). Creating a link and emailing it is now one step instead of two and previously-used email addresses appear in a popup menu for convenience.
The recipients of the link are shown in a list, including the number of times they viewed it. This only applies to people who were emailed the link directly through the site and only applies to links emailed from now on.
Navigating between files is much easier with the built-in file browser. Click the dropdown arrow to show it, then click on a file to switch to it.
Additionally, metadata tags are shown in their own tab below the player and the sync setting is also remembered so you don’t have to keep clicking it when switching between files for Cut Notes sync.
The upload form has inherited the automatic revisions option from Kollaborate Transfer, where a file will become a revision if a file with the same name (or the same with a version number such as myfile_0002) exists in the folder.
By default, after uploading you will now be shown the new file immediately. We’ve added a dropdown menu with various options to perform after uploading a file, so if you want to revert to the old behavior select "Edit metadata".
The changes are live for all trial and subscription customers. A corresponding Kollaborate Server update will be coming next week.

2014 is now here so here's a look back at the past twelve months.
This was our biggest year yet with the launch of our new cloud workflow service, Kollaborate. As well as being a video review tool with timecode integration and marker exports, it’s also a platform we are building all of our products around. Cloud-integrated apps include Post Haste, Preference Manager, Cut Notes and CinePlay (the latter two also have free Kollaborate-only versions for clients and colleagues).
If you’re reluctant to upload data to the cloud we also offer Kollaborate Server for businesses to run in-house on their own servers and storage.
We also launched CinePlay for iOS - a professional video player with timecode overlays, markers, masking, cropping and integration with Digital Rebellion products such as Cut Notes, Editmote and Kollaborate.
In addition we released major updates for Marker Import, Cut Notes, EditCodes and Preference Manager. In total we released over 80 free updates to our tools.
Our most popular free app was FCS Remover and our most popular paid app was Pro Maintenance Tools. Our most popular iOS app was Video Space Calculator.
The most popular blog posts of 2013 were:
How to locate corrupt clips on your timeline
Final Cut Pro X hangs when loading a project
How to sync metadata between QuickTime movies
Avid Codec Guide
5 hidden features in Adobe Premiere CS6

Things you may have missed:
So what’s next? As well as continuing to improve our existing products, we are planning additional product launches in 2014 and will be putting extra emphasis on expanding the range of platforms we develop for. Keep an eye on the blog, follow us on Twitter or subscribe to the mailing list to be alerted when new products and updates are available.
We've just released Pro Maintenance Tools 2.0.18 and Pro Media Tools 1.1.14.
Plugin Manager is faster and more responsive if you have a large number of plugins installed on your system.
You can also boost performance by switching on the option to ignore FxFactory plugins in Preferences, as Plugin Manager cannot manage these plugins and they must be modified directly within the FxFactory app.
Pro Maintenance Tools is now compatible with FCPX 10.1 and Compressor Repair now works with Compressor 4.1. An update for the standalone version of Compressor Repair will be out soon.
Pro Media Tools is app-agnostic so no changes needed to be made to support 10.1.
QT Edit can now set timecode from an arbitrary position within the movie. This makes it possible to set timecode from the first frame of picture without having to calculate the length of black, slates and bars before it.
For a full list of changes, please see the changelogs for Pro Maintenance Tools and Pro Media Tools or visit each suite's respective product page to download a free 15-day trial.
By popular demand, we have released an Avid timecode sync plugin for our iPad note-taking app Cut Notes. This is a free Mac plugin that sends timecode from your Media Composer or Symphony sequence to the iPad. We've qualified it for Media Composer 6+ but it will most likely work on earlier versions too.
Here's how to set it up:
1. Make sure Avid is closed.
2. Download the installer from the sidebar on the Cut Notes site and run it to install the plugin.
3. In Finder, launch Audio MIDI Setup in the Utilities folder under Applications. Go to Window > Show MIDI Window and then double-click the icon marked Network.
4. Click the + button under My Sessions and name the new session Cut Notes. Tick the box next to it to enable it. Under "Who may connect to me" at the bottom, set it to Anyone. In the Bonjour Name field, enter the name of your computer if it is not already set.
5. Now launch Cut Notes on your iPad, tap the Sync button and set it to MIDI. The name of your iPad should appear in the Audio MIDI Setup window on your Mac in the Directory list. Select it and click Connect. It should then appear under Participants on the right-hand side. You will need to repeat this step whenever you launch Cut Notes.
6. Relaunch Avid.
7. Go to Clip > New Video Track to create a blank track.
8. In the Effects Browser, browse to Digital Rebellion and drag "Cut Notes Timecode Plugin" onto the filler in the new track.
9. If necessary, set the starting timecode and drop frame flag in the Effect Editor.
10. Click the Video Track Monitor icon next to the track to make sure it will be shown.
11. Scrub the timeline and the timecode should appear in Cut Notes.
The Avid plugin is a free download for Cut Notes users. For more details on importing notes into Avid or syncing with other applications, please see the user manual.
We've just released Pro Media Tools 1.1.13, a minor update to our suite of media management tools.
If you leave an app processing in the background while you work in another application, OS X 10.9 may suspend it. All the relevant tools in the suite are now optimized for this so that they will continue running.
We made significant changes to the frame rate conform feature in version 1.1.11 but this caused issues with a small number of files, so we're now intelligently determining when to use the old and new methods of conversion depending on the type of file being conformed.
We've updated several of the existing metadata presets as well as adding new presets for Panasonic and MXF.
The full list of changes is available here.

We've just released Kollaborate Server 1.0.4, a major update to our in-house cloud workflow solution.
The rest of the changes were discussed last week in the cloud release but here's a rundown.

Today we are introducing free versions of Cut Notes and CinePlay for Kollaborate users. These versions are cut-down editions that only operate with Kollaborate and have no standalone functionality. A Kollaborate account is required to use them, but the apps can be used by both free and paid users.
Cut Notes is a useful and popular iPad note-taking tool. Sync to the playback of your NLE or web browser and quickly create timecoded notes on the fly, or even take part in group note-taking sessions.
CinePlay is a professional video player for iPad and iPhone that offers markers, cropping, safe areas, CDLs and more. You can also use it take part in Kollaborate Synced Sessions, where everyone can view a video at the same time, synced to one user's playhead.
CinePlay: Kollaborate Edition will only play movies located on Kollaborate storage and Cut Notes: Kollaborate Edition will not allow you to create local projects, however both can be unlocked to the full standalone versions by in-app purchase or by purchasing those versions separately on the store. If you already own the full versions, there is no need to download the free versions because they add no new functionality.
We've introduced these versions to add additional value to a Kollaborate subscription and to make it easy to share the apps with colleagues and clients. It's also a great way to demo the apps free of charge for 15 days too.
To find out more, sign up for a free trial of Kollaborate (no credit card required), then download Cut Notes: Kollaborate Edition and CinePlay: Kollaborate Edition and login to your Kollaborate account from within the apps.
We've just released Kollaborate 1.0.4 to the cloud - a major update to our cloud workflow system that offers lots of new user-requested features and changes.
Comments can now be imported from Final Cut Pro or Avid marker lists. To do this, click the Actions button on the player page, then click Import Comments. Select the type of marker list (FCP or Avid), then browse for the file and click Upload. The markers will be imported into the file at their existing timecode positions and you will be marked as the author of the comments.
You can now see every link you have shared on a project-wide basis without having to visit the Share page for every file individually. To do this click Share from the Actions dropdown on the player page or the arrow to the right of a file on the Files page. Then click All Links for this Project at the right-hand side. If you are an admin you can view links created by everyone in the project.
Admins can now view and modify tasks they do not own. Tasks by other users will now appear in the Tasks for Others or Completed Tasks sections.
A corresponding update to Kollaborate Server will be coming next week.
Kollaborate is a cloud workflow platform for video professionals centered around the Digital Rebellion app ecosystem. To find out more, view the feature list or sign up for the free no obligation 15-day trial.
We've just launched Marker Import 2.0, a significant redesign and rebranding of Cut Notes Marker Import. Marker Import is a free tool for taking notes generated by Cut Notes or Kollaborate and importing them into your editing system. In addition to the existing Final Cut Pro 7 and FCPX project support, we've added the following new features.
Markers can now be imported into Adobe Premiere projects through FCP XML. Firstly, export your notes to a Final Cut Pro marker list from Cut Notes or Kollaborate, then export your sequence or project to Final Cut Pro XML within Adobe Premiere.
Open the marker list in Marker Import, then browse for the XML file. Select the sequence and adjust the frame offset if necessary, then click Import Markers to write them to the XML file. Reimport the XML file into Adobe Premiere and your sequence will be duplicated with the new markers.
Markers can be imported into a clip within an FCPX event file. Export your notes to a marker list, then export the event to XML from within FCPX.
Open the marker list in Marker Import, then browse for the XML file. Select the clip and adjust the frame offset if necessary, then click Import Markers. A duplicate of the event will automatically open in FCPX.
Other changes in this version include OS X 10.9 Mavericks compatibility and the ability to specify an offset in units other than frames.
Marker Import is a free download available from the right-hand sidebar of the Cut Notes site. You can view detailed guides to importing into different applications in the user manual.
We've just released Pro Media Tools 1.1.12, a minor update to our suite of media management tools.
Pro Media Tools is now compatible with OS X 10.9 Mavericks, released earlier this week.
Starting timecode can now be adjusted for a group of files at once in a batch. If a timecode track is detected it will be modified to the new value, otherwise a new timecode track will be added.
This is in addition to the Quick Tasks that already exist for importing DSLR timecode from a THM file or setting timecode to the current time of day.
