Last week we released Kollaborate Server 1.1.1 which brings all of the changes in Kollaborate 1.1.1 plus many other server-specific changes.
Shared links can now be set to automatically expire after a certain time period, allowing you to limit access to a file to prevent abuse. This feature is optional and you can still create permanent links as before if you wish.
Site navigation has been streamlined and the Dashboard page is gone. In its place we are now showing alerts on a per-page basis. In the Files section we also provide a list of which files are new or have changes, making it much more intuitive to get up to speed on what's new within a project.

Today we launched Kollaborate 1.1.1 onto the cloud, featuring many tweaks and improvements to the site.

Additionally, we have added unsubscription links to the automatic emails sent out by the site, making it easy for less technical users to limit the notifications they receive without needing to login to their profile.
We've made many small changes to the Projects section of the site. Projects are now either Active or Archived and a project that is completed can still be listed as active if you wish.
Managing lots of projects is simpler because the last time you accessed the project is now logged, pushing the most recent projects to the top of the list by default to make them easier to find.
Additionally, it is now possible for a user invited by someone else to a project to leave that project.
We're working to make our helper tools more consistent with the features of the web interface and apps like CinePlay now contribute to view counts and trigger viewing receipts.
We also launched Kollaborate Transfer 1.1, a major new update to our free encoding and uploading tool. This features significantly faster encoding speeds for H.264 and ProRes source media, along with the option to embed a watermark image in the file.

Yesterday we released Kollaborate Server 1.1 which brings all of the changes in Kollaborate 1.1 plus many other server-specific features and fixes.
You can now draw over your videos in multiple colors. Annotations must be submitted alongside a comment which helps to give the drawing context.
Comments can be color-coded for context and colors are respected when exporting to marker lists. Comment colors are a powerful feature because you can filter the comment view by color and even filter colors when you export to a marker list.
Kollaborate now offers finer control over notification alerts. You can now choose exactly which notifications to receive from the Profile page.
Files can now be shared from your private storage area and can also be moved between projects.
Superadmins and admins can now access and view all projects on the server regardless of whether or not they are part of the project's Team.
We've improved the installer too, allowing you to specify the superadmin email address and password as part of the installation process instead of logging in with the defaults and then changing them. This simplifies installation and also improves security for those who would not have changed the default login information.
A large number of bugs are fixed in this version, particularly on Windows servers, and file serving performance has been improved, making this a recommended update for all server administrators.

We've just released Kollaborate 1.1 onto the cloud. This is a major new update to our popular cloud workflow platform.
You can now draw over your videos in multiple colors. Annotations must be submitted alongside a comment which helps to give the drawing context.
This is currently only supported in the web interface right now but it will be coming soon to CinePlay for Mac and CinePlay for iOS.
Comments can be color-coded for context and colors are respected when exporting to marker lists. Comment colors are a powerful feature because you can filter the comment view by color and even filter colors when you export to a marker list.
This works really well with Cut Notes because you can setup preset colored buttons for particular categories such as sound and picture and then filter your marker outputs accordingly.
Comment colors are supported by Cut Notes and CinePlay for Mac and will be coming soon to CinePlay for iOS.
We've also released a new version of Kollaborate Transfer. This uses AV Foundation for encoding on OS X 10.7 or higher which significantly boosts encoding performance.
It also uploads QuickTime metadata tags to Kollaborate so you can reference them from the player.
Kollaborate now offers finer control over notification alerts. You can now choose exactly which notifications to receive from the Profile page.
Files can now be shared from your private storage area and can also be moved between projects.
On top of this, there have been a large number of bug fixes, UI tweaks and performance optimizations to improve the Kollaborate experience. There will also be a corresponding update to Kollaborate Server next week.

It's come to our attention that the iOS note-taking app SpottingSession and video upload service ProSpotting will be shutting down on January 31st, rendering both products unusable after this date.
We're therefore offering a sale on our competing iOS note-taking app, Cut Notes, to help users make the switch. Cut Notes syncs timecode with Avid Media Composer for Mac (via a free plugin), Pro Tools and various other apps including Adobe Premiere and Final Cut Pro X.
Cut Notes will be $8.99 through February 7th (reduced from $12.99). This lower price is available to all customers. Unlike SpottingSession, Cut Notes is a standalone app that will continue to function even if we choose to discontinue it in future.
Cut Notes is integrated with our cloud workflow platform, Kollaborate, offering live commenting on cloud videos, group note-taking sessions and many other features. We're offering a 15% refund to new subscribers who purchase a 1 year subscription and can provide proof of a pre-existing ProSpotting subscription. The ProSpotting subscription should have been purchased before January 27th 2014. This promotion runs through February 7th too.
If you want to try out the apps before purchasing, sign up for a free no-obligation Kollaborate trial (no credit card needed) and download the free Kollaborate-only version of Cut Notes. You can then either buy the full version of the app or upgrade the free version via in-app purchase.
We're keen to hear feature requests and other feedback from SpottingSession customers and help you manage the transition smoothly, so feel free to contact us with any questions or comments.
We’ve just released Kollaborate Server 1.0.5, a minor update to our in-house cloud workflow platform.
We’ve made various improvements to the installer based on user feedback, including more checks for dependencies and configuration problems, along with bug fixes and other improvements.
The installer will now allow you to resume where you left off if you need to restart your computer as well as detecting existing installations.
Additionally, licenses can now be installed automatically if your file permissions allow, otherwise you will be prompted to download and manually copy the license file as in previous versions.
Sharing files with people outside a project has now been streamlined. All users wishing to create a link must now have admin permissions (you can set this from the Team page). Creating a link and emailing it is now one step instead of two and previously-used email addresses appear in a popup menu for convenience.
The recipients of the link are shown in a list, including the number of times they viewed it. This only applies to people who were emailed the link directly through the site and only applies to links emailed from now on.
Navigating between files is much easier with the built-in file browser. Click the dropdown arrow to show it, then click on a file to switch to it.
Additionally, metadata tags are shown in their own tab below the player and the sync setting is also remembered so you don’t have to keep clicking it when switching between files for Cut Notes sync.
The upload form has inherited the automatic revisions option from Kollaborate Transfer, where a file will become a revision if a file with the same name (or the same with a version number such as myfile_0002) exists in the folder.
By default, after uploading you will now be shown the new file immediately. We’ve added a dropdown menu with various options to perform after uploading a file, so if you want to revert to the old behavior select "Edit metadata".

Today we are introducing free versions of Cut Notes and CinePlay for Kollaborate users. These versions are cut-down editions that only operate with Kollaborate and have no standalone functionality. A Kollaborate account is required to use them, but the apps can be used by both free and paid users.
Cut Notes is a useful and popular iPad note-taking tool. Sync to the playback of your NLE or web browser and quickly create timecoded notes on the fly, or even take part in group note-taking sessions.
CinePlay is a professional video player for iPad and iPhone that offers markers, cropping, safe areas, CDLs and more. You can also use it take part in Kollaborate Synced Sessions, where everyone can view a video at the same time, synced to one user's playhead.
CinePlay: Kollaborate Edition will only play movies located on Kollaborate storage and Cut Notes: Kollaborate Edition will not allow you to create local projects, however both can be unlocked to the full standalone versions by in-app purchase or by purchasing those versions separately on the store. If you already own the full versions, there is no need to download the free versions because they add no new functionality.
We've introduced these versions to add additional value to a Kollaborate subscription and to make it easy to share the apps with colleagues and clients. It's also a great way to demo the apps free of charge for 15 days too.
To find out more, sign up for a free trial of Kollaborate (no credit card required), then download Cut Notes: Kollaborate Edition and CinePlay: Kollaborate Edition and login to your Kollaborate account from within the apps.
We've just released Kollaborate 1.0.4 to the cloud - a major update to our cloud workflow system that offers lots of new user-requested features and changes.
Comments can now be imported from Final Cut Pro or Avid marker lists. To do this, click the Actions button on the player page, then click Import Comments. Select the type of marker list (FCP or Avid), then browse for the file and click Upload. The markers will be imported into the file at their existing timecode positions and you will be marked as the author of the comments.
You can now see every link you have shared on a project-wide basis without having to visit the Share page for every file individually. To do this click Share from the Actions dropdown on the player page or the arrow to the right of a file on the Files page. Then click All Links for this Project at the right-hand side. If you are an admin you can view links created by everyone in the project.
Admins can now view and modify tasks they do not own. Tasks by other users will now appear in the Tasks for Others or Completed Tasks sections.
A corresponding update to Kollaborate Server will be coming next week.
